CEREC (Same Day Crowns)

Dental crowns are restorations that cover damaged or weak teeth and keep them from enduring further damage. In other cases, they are also used to change the shape and size of a misshapen or a chipped tooth, treat severely worn out or weak teeth, and bring about an aesthetic makeover. However, the process of getting a crown is easier said than done.

The dentist would start with a diagnosis, take multiple scans and x-rays of the teeth, and send over the data to a dental laboratory for fabricating it. Meanwhile, they will fit your tooth with a temporary crown (which is usually ill-fitting), wait for a couple of weeks for the crown to be finished, and then get it bonded to the tooth during a second or third appointment. All this seems pretty hectic, doesn’t it?

We have the perfect solution to this: Same day CEREC crowns!

What are CEREC crowns?

CEREC is the short form of Chairside Economical Restoration using Esthetic Ceramic. CEREC crowns are so perfect and can be fabricated so quickly that they are technologically miles ahead of conventional crowns. You may find it difficult to believe that the dentist can complete the entire process of diagnosing you, fabricating the crown, and bonding it to the tooth in a single visit to our dental practice.

How is the procedure carried out?

The CEREC technology of fabricating crowns involves the use of technologically advanced equipment. We will start with scanning the teeth using a hand-held scanner. It is so simple, easy, and swift that scanning the teeth of both the jaws and aligning them would take less than a minute. The data obtained from the device will be input to the milling machine that mills out the crown from a piece of dental-grade ceramic. It is done with such high precision that it requires no manual adjustments and would look exactly like a natural tooth once bonded.

You can wait for a few minutes browsing through your phone or listening to music while the crown gets fabricated. Once done, the dentist would use dental adhesives to bond the crown to the tooth permanently. A curing light will be used to harden it. You can visit us sometime in the morning, get your CEREC crown done by afternoon and be back home and have dinner by evening. It’s as convenient as that!

Why should you choose CEREC crowns?

  • CEREC crowns are, by far, the quickest dental restorations as the chair time involved is minimal. They can be finished in a matter of a few hours and bonded to the teeth. This makes it especially helpful to somebody running on tight schedules.
  • The technology backing CEREC is an advanced one. The process of scanning the teeth is so quick and efficient that the teeth will be mapped out with utmost precision. Factors such as spacing available for the restoration, cracks or chipping of the teeth, wear, cavities, infections, etc., can be determined easily.
  • The crowns fabricated by this process are of excellent quality. They offer superior properties such as durability, longevity, and resistance to staining.
